Flamante and Camila López create music from a small room in their home with the minimum tools and without any interest in getting a"pro"sound; thus, they compose timid and pleasant songs loaded with sweet lyrics and quiet melodies. For this record their "move & remove" track is reinterpreted and remixed by different artists of our label and SONOTHEC, an artist of Venezuelan origin friend of the duet.

French melancholic pop/rock band, with a female singer named Clara. Their first album is available under a CC license

"People often ask me how many languages I speak, simply because my music collection holds so many international artists who don't sing in English. But to tell the truth, I don't require a song to be sung in a language I understand, in order for me to be able to connect with it.

If you never thought you could get into music in any language other than English, I urge you to give Anabase's Le Bonheur Flou a try.

If you don't already speak French, Le Bonheur Flou is the sort of album that will make you want to learn, or at least have a croissant for breakfast and pretend. The reason these songs penetrate the soul so effectively: the radiant voice of lead singer Clara Scherrer.
There's not a person I share this album with who doesn't develop a crush on her, based solely on her voice (mind you, it doesn't hurt that she looks great on stage, too). When she sings, you stop caring about everything - your personal problems, your job, your rent. There's something sufficiently Cranberries about her that you can easily imagine Clara becoming the Dolores O'Riordan of her country and generation. She has that dreamy-yet-purposeful sound that is as stirring as it is soothing.

As for the music, it's a mix of styles that could be referred to as "alternative," an annoyingly vague term which happens to fit in this case. Piano-based songs open up into raunchy guitars, and then settle back down into quiet acoustic numbers. Although there's nothing particularly pop-like in the collection, the songs are well-written and interesting enough that you'll find yourself humming along, or perhaps looking up the lyrics on Google if you're feeling ambitious. The melodies are catchy without being corny, and the arrangements are smoothly produced without losing their edge or energy.

However, if you absolutely insist that you can't enjoy a song without the lyrics being in English, Anabase still have you covered - "My Castle's Down" is not the best track on the album by a long shot, but it's enough to give you taste of Clara's voice, which in turn will almost certainly be enough to make you want to listen to everything else she has ever recorded. Most of which is in French... but by that point you won't care! You'll be hooked. And if you already speak French and dig indie rock with chick singers, then Le Bonheur Flou is bound to be an instant favourite".(Melissa)

Magazine. Niche (Issue 5)

Niche Magazine was founded by a collaboration of Brian Vu a graphic designer, Nick Asokan a photographer, Chris Bernal a web designer, and Tiara Chiaramonte a journalist. They embarked on the first issue featuring Circa Survive’s Anthony Green on the cover. In the second issue the magazine featured a fashion photo editorial by Nick Asokan with the Mosley Tribes sunglasses and also featured the band, Cursive. By the third issue the magazine had become established in the music circuit featuring the band Iglu & Hartly on the cover and interviews with Copeland and Anchor & Braille. The fourth issue featured coverage of several summer music festivals including: Outside Lands, Street Scene, and FYF Fest.

Niche Magazine continues to grow and in our fifth issue features many acclaimed musical artists such as Azure Ray, Ben Gibbard from Death Cab for Cutie, Treasure Island music festival and Tori Amos. The fashion section also continues to grow with LA Fashion Week featuring Li Cari and a photo spread of Marais shoes.

Sound. The Blackstarliners - Roaring Lion (jan 2010)

The Blackstarliners is a band created in year 2006 mainly by the producer Ayato who practises dub music since more of 10 years about. The sound of the band is fully influenced by the UK stepper. The members have also shared stage with some of their prestigious idols such as Zion Train, Disciples, Bush Chemists or others Improvisators Dub, Kanka during some live sessions. Just some references on the kind.
By listening Roaring Lion, we can feel this different experiences and meetings. Actually, the EP develops a very powerfull dub stepper worthy of this named artists or bands. A sound, that I can say, remind the stepper of another great dub producer : Weeding dub. To tell how the music proposed is effective and extremely powerfull.
And at the same time, very melodic with a nice female voice for a sweet flow. So, don't hesitate to go to download it. The quality is there in every levels.

"o celebrate this new year and Fresh Poulp’s 5 years of musical delight, here comes the third version of our “Octopus” compilations : “O3“. As usual we’ve released a double LP, but this time only featuring guest artists, drawing a sketch of what Fresh Poulp will be in a close future! New orientations begin to appear, like minimalist musical objects or deep ambient sounds, even if the label keeps and will keep its well known eclectic trademark !
Let’s have a quick overview of some of the many guest featured here ! Padawin is an electronic duet and label friend that will release its first album on FPR later this year, as well as Bankari, that may present an EP. You all know the international orientation of our label, however this album focuses mainly on french artists, some of them are confirmed, like rap-band Da Krew or dub warriors from OnDubGround, who also provided their science of mixing for the compilation.
But you’ll also find some electronic rising artists like Life in A Box (who just released his first LP on Concrete Curving), D-Drône, Kat Gogolevitch or Para, guilty of a wonderful album last year on AQuietBump !
It would take too long to talk about all these artists, even if they deserve it, but there’s some great human connections we’d like to share! Like meeting Komak and his truck in the french moutain, sharing some strange dutch liquor. Or Elkhor, met in a field a few years ago in french coutryside ! Again a testimony that Fresh Poulp is made of human link !

Sound. Ian Hawgood - Enfants Ruraux

Ian Hawgood, international man of mystery. Mr. Hawgood is a hard-working musician, with an impressive oeuvre spread over a dozen of quality record labels. While his Koen Park moniker is about IDM- and Hip Hop influenced Electronica, the music he publishes under his civil name can roughly be classified as Ambient, Drone and Noise. His "The Fires Will Die At Night" at Resting Bell Netlabel is legend already.

For 12rec., Ian Hawgood delivers an album completely recorded with analog instruments. His most subtle and personal up to date. As the title depicts it, "Enfants Ruraux" is a journey into his childhood when little Ian was nearly deaf; he got obsessed by simple tones and melodies in these days. On the one hand, "Enfants Ruraux" is a meditation on the elementary sound of the piano and the acoustic guitar. Hawgood is happy to be blessed with a musical family and circle of friends who lent pump organ, chimes, violins, trumpets and loads of other stuff for further investigation.

On the other hand, the album deals with various aspects of traveling. UK-born, Ian Hawgood lives in Tokyo right now but that was able to call Spain, Italy and the US home before. Most of the album was made in Pennsylvania and on trains to and from New York City. Throughout the blissful layers of acoustic textures, field-recordings reverberate and bring forth impressions from all these different places. Especially the mystical Japanese countryside was inspiration to Ian while recording this twinkling masterpiece of calm Ambient music.

Twizzle – “Soda Fountain”

n an abandoned seaside town the women of the bordello wander out. Their punch-stained lips whistle whiskeyed melodies. Their limp boas leave a trail of old perfume.

A cowboy, hidden in the shadow of his ten-gallon, sips sassafras soda, for which he has traveled a great mile. You make your way from the old hotel set back on the dunes, stopping first for a continental breakfast in the chandeliered ballroom.

Hop on a sepia carousel. Bathe in the icy shore. Or just stroll along the crumbling boardwalk while echoes of Twizzle fill the summer air...

Recorded in 1999 over a period of several months, Twizzle's homemade CD combines theatrical vocals with warm, lush melodies and rhythm.
